Braces, Inman aligners and invisalign; science in bed with dentistry

Dentists have been aware for decades that the brace wasn’t the best tool in the box, and eventually someone came up with the answer to the problem. The Inman and the Invisalign braces are the ultimate in braces, both in unique design and workability. They each have their own little quirks and ways they work, and they also both have a set of similar brilliant innovations built in.

The process of getting straight teeth starts at the dentist with a painless set of tests to get information. This is in the form of digital photos and X-rays and a mould of the teeth in question. This is fed into a computer and the results are used to make a series, not just one, of braces. Both types are made from a clear material to make them as invisible as possible, although the Inman does have a metal bar, albeit a narrow one, across the front. The braces are made to order by an orthodontist who needs to stay ahead of the game; and the dentist.

The computer program will give the brace maker all the measurements they need to create pressure points within the brace and this will be the force used, over a set period, to move the teeth into a straighter position. At the same time the blood flow is also manipulated to allow for extra bone deposits behind the teeth as they move. This will ensure that the tooth doesn`t move back into its old position once the brace is taken off and the pressure points moved. The patient need not wait to see the results, because the computer also makes a CGI (computer generated image) of the entire process. At the end of the film it will show the patient, and the dentist, an image of the finished product; straight teeth. the braces aren`t fixed on to the teeth, so they can be removed whenever they need to be.

When you clean your teeth or are eating then simply take them out and replace them back when you`re finished. The time it takes is difficult to determine, it depends on the amount of braces that need to be made and fitted. Your dentist will be able to advise you better after a consultation, so if you`re fed up with misaligned teeth why not see your dentist for a chat.
